Rob Farmer has been in the Fire / Rescue and Emergency Medical Service industry for more than 22 years, and
is the Director of Emergency Medical Services in Delaware County, Ohio. In his role as Director, he
oversees a progressive, 10 station / 128 member (unionized) Emergency Medical Services division, serving a 459
square-mile county-wide population of over 162,000 residents. Delaware County is currently the 12th fastest
growing county in the United States, expecting to grow to 212,000 residents by 2020. Delaware County lies just
north of Metropolitan Columbus, Ohio.
His past Fire / Rescue and EMS experience includes nearly 14 years
in various roles with the Upper Arlington Fire Division, an affluent suburb of Columbus Ohio. His other
clinical experiences include his roles as a Paramedic in the Mount Carmel East Hospital Emergency Department,
as a Critical-Care / Fixed-Wing Flight Paramedic for MedFlight of Ohio, as a Critical Care Transport Paramedic for the Mobile
Intensive Care Unit Program at Riverside Methodist Hospitals, as a Flight Paramedic for Critical Care Air
Transport, as a Fire Inspector / Paramedic for The Ohio State University Division of Fire & EMS, and a
Paramedic for American Ambulance, all in Columbus, Ohio.
His teaching and academic experience includes his current role as a
Regional MPDS / EMD Instructor for Priority Dispatch and The National Academy of Emergency Dispatch,
based out of Salt Lake City, Utah. In addition, he currently serves as an Adjunct Faculty in the EMS & Fire Science Program as Columbus
State Community College, as the AHA Training Center Coordinator for the ACLS / BLS Training Center at Doctors
Hospital / OhioHealth, and as Preceptor / Outreach Coordinator for the Columbus State Community College / EMS &
Fire Continuing Education Outreach Program.
Rob's
published work includes his EKG Study Guide and 12-Lead EKG Overlay, and his serving as an Editorial Consultant for a series of children's books about firefighters and EMT's from Capstone Press in Mankato, MN. His most notable published work, however, is his contribution as a
Chapter Author in the "ACLS for the Experienced Provider - Instructor Manual," released in June
2004 from the American Heart Association.
